Indian Dance
During November and December pupils from Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 attended an Indian Dance Club hosted by Mrs Still.  Weeks of hard work culminated in a fantastic performance at the Brayton College Christmas Dance Evening where they performed an Indian themed dance to the music of Jai Ho from the film Slumdog Millionaire.

Boccia
James Chapman, the Inclusion Officer from Selby Abbey Leisure Centre, is working in our school during the Spring Term delivering Boccia and New Age Kurling to pupils in Year 5.
Boccia is a sport with ancient Greek origins.  It is similar in context to Bowls, Petanque or French Boules.
Boccia is played on a long, narrow court by individuals, pairs and teams.  The goal is to throw or bowl a ball so that it lands as close as possible to the target ball, called a ‘jack’.  At the end of every round, the competitor whose ball is closest to the jack scores one point for every one of his balls that is closer than his opponent’s.

New Age Kurling is a relatively new sport having only been invented in the Year 2000.  It is a form of the original curling game, but adapted so that it can be played indoors on any smooth, flat surface, such as a sports hall, rather than on ice.

York City Football Club Football in the Community
York City Football Club Football in the Community will be delivering free lunchtime football skill sessions to Year 6 pupils during January, February and March 2010.  The sessions will cover basic football skills and help pupils develop their co-ordination and agility.

Freddy Fit
Freddy Fit attended our school in January 2010 to deliver an exciting fitness programme set to music for pupils from Year 3, 4 and 5 as well as pupils from Brayton Infant School.

Get Active Board
The Get Active board within the school promotes a variety of local sports and physical activities to pupils.  Earlier in the year pupils were invited to produce a poster about a sport or physical activity in which they regularly participate.  Each poster includes contact details for the club/organisers to encourage other pupils to join.

Get Active on the Newsletter
The newsletter regularly contains details of sport and physical activities within the local area, including holiday clubs.
