Philosophy

Good literature is for everyone and the texts we offer stimulate language models and aid students in the development of their language use.  Good fiction provides insights into the human condition, the vital years of growing up, that can be recognised by children of all abilities.  Library use aims to explicitly promote the craft of reading for enjoyment and information search so students are confident and autonomous and become discriminating readers with an ability to respond to types of texts for information retrieval.

Class Times

Library takes place on Thursday and Friday.

Classes 3 and 4 are on Thursday morning, Classes 1, 2, 5 and 6 are on Thursday afternoon.  Class 7 are on Friday.

Please make sure your book is returned each week.  A new book cannot be issued otherwise.  If you would like the book renewing still bring it to your library session for issuing again.  Any books overdue will have reminders sent out.

Library Guide

Fiction

Colour coding reading level reflects level student is attaining in class.  We are lucky to have a huge range from easy reader picture books to harder early teenage text eg. Anthony Horowitz and Alex Rider themes.

It doesn't matter if you are an avid reader or someone who finds reading challenging, there will be something for you to enjoy.  If you like particular books ask during your class session.

Non-Fiction

You are shown how to find a non-fiction book using the Dewey classification scheme.  Don't worry if you cannot remember during classroom time you will have support.  Also the colour coded system helps to locate the correct category as an alternative.

We have a number of reference only books including Guiness Book of Records and James Bond!  But these are for use only in the library.
